Awaiting Our Funding…

CFSIC’s new fiscal year began on July 1, 2026.

We are awaiting our funding from the State of CT for the fiscal year period 7/1/26 to 7/1/27.

By way of reminder, our funding comes from two sources: the $12 per homeowner policy surcharge on every homeowner’s policy sold in CT (of which we get 85% of that $12) and $25 million in CT revenue bond funding. That’s a total, roughly, of $35.6 million each year.

To be clear, in this fiscal year we haven’t gotten either of those payments yet.

CFSIC is very transparent about where its money comes from. The moment we get our funding, we announce it here in “Latest News.” We will do so this year when we get our funding again.

Please bear in mind that the funding we get does not come at the same time every year. It depends on the CT Department of Housing’s audit process, and it also depends on when the CT Bond Commission meets. Sometimes, within a fiscal year, we’ve gotten our funding before Labor Day…other times, it has come in as late as December.

As you know, in the past the Superintendent has suspended the issuance of Participation Agreements because the funding has been late. There’s always a chance that he will have to suspend PAs again this year…although that is unlikely, unless our funding doesn’t arrive until January 1 or after.

Meanwhile, nothing is stopping you from applying if you are a legitimate victim of the crumbling foundations crisis. We have sufficient funding on hand to ride out this waiting period, and operations continue with all systems “go”.
