Certified Professionals Program

For those exploring the possibility of filing a crumbling foundation claim with CFSIC, the very first step in the CFSIC program is to obtain a written visual inspection report from a CFSIC-certified home inspector or a CT-licensed professional engineer who has voluntarily agreed to become certified by CFSIC. In addition, CFSIC may accept a visual inspection report from a non-certified PE if and only if that professional adheres to, among other things, CFSIC’s minimum standards.

Why is this important?

CFSIC determines claim eligibility using a number of factors...most importantly we use the results of a written visual inspection report of a foundation where a CFSIC-established foundation Severity Class Code has been assigned to that foundation, supported by photographic and measurement evidence.  (Or where it is indicated by the professional conducting the evaluation that it is not possible, given certain circumstances, for the foundation to be assigned a Severity Class Code.)

CFSIC does not pay claims to remediate a crumbling foundation based on the results of a foundation core analysis or other form of testing. CFSIC only utilizes the results of a visual inspection.

This page is designed for the use of our certified professionals, but we believe that homeowners will also find the information on this page useful as those homeowners take the first step in their journey of remediation.

The links below will take professionals to specific information about how the certified professional program works, what they will be held accountable for if they become a certified professional, and what, if you are a homeowner, you can expect the written foundation evaluation process to reveal about your specific home foundation.

CFSIC holds certified professionals accountable for their conduct, their comportment as professionals, and the quality and clarity of their written foundation evaluations. Whether you are a professional or a homeowner, you can view the code of conduct by using the link below:
