It Starts with the Contractor’s Worksheet…
(July 20, 2026) For those of you coming to this website for the first time, who are thinking about applying to CFSIC for a foundation remediation, we want to be clear that it all starts with the Contractor’s Worksheet.
This is a simple document, but vital to the understanding of your potential remediation. Every contractor proposing services to you will have to complete a Contractor’s Worksheet. You can find an example of the Contractor’s Worksheet (and other important contractor documents) here.
The Contractor’s Worksheet levels the playing field. It states clearly the ground rules for how a contractor will calculate what CFSIC will pay for…always subject, of course, to our cap of $205,000 for a stand-alone home and $82,000 for a condominium unit.
The linear and square foot measurements of your foundation have maximum dollar amounts associated with them. The contractor can charge less if he wants to…but he cannot charge more. That’s the way the system works. It’s why, for example, you may get your minimum of two contractor bids. but they may be different in amount. (Non-foundation replacement costs can also differ widely, but those costs are not covered by the Contractor’s Worksheet.)
But here’s the important point: you can’t get a proposal for foundation remediation services without the contractor having completed the Contractor’s Worksheet. It’s the thing that begins the process. As we’ve said, it levels the playing field, because every contractor is subject to the maximum allowable costs, and if they charge less than that…then that’s something else: it’s called old-fashioned American competition.
